3D Game Environment Creation in Unreal Engine 5: Luna Melon Cafe

For my Term 2 capstone project, I developed a 3D game environment using Unreal Engine, centered around an innovative concept: a haunted forest featuring unexpected elements. Initially inspired by the witch's candy house in Hansel and Gretel, I brainstormed various iterations before arriving at a unique and engaging idea.

I had a number of goals to achieve over the course of this assignment:
>> learn the ins and outs of Unreal software for creating 3D environment art
>> learn advanced tools like Substance 3D Designer to create original textures
>> apply best practices for file optimization to maintain best performance
>> conceive and execute an original creative concept

To enhance the storytelling aspect of my environment, I created a compelling lore that informed my design decisions and prop selections. The final concept features a cafe next to a mystical "luna melon" patch, where the moonlight grown/healing watermelons serve as intriguing artifacts within the eerie setting. Additionally, I integrated a café theme, presenting an unconventional twist by incorporating watermelon into cakes and pastries—an idea not typically associated with this fruit.

This project showcases my proficiency in the Unreal Engine 3D game environment creation pipeline as well as my ability to blend creativity with technical skills while delivering an immersive experience that challenges conventional expectations.
